The team are taking part in Three Peaks By Rail to raise money for Railway Children, an organisation working to protect vulnerable young children on public transport networks across the UK, Tanzania, and India.

Supporting vital work

Railway Children has been working to protect at-risk children since 1955. It’s a sad truth that vulnerable young people use public transport to escape abusive or dangerous environments, and it’s these journeys that can see them exploited by criminals at bus and rail stations.

Through collaborative efforts with police forces, policymakers and community groups, Railway Children helps to identify, rescue and support vulnerable children, protecting them from exploitation at public transport terminals, and helping them build better, brighter futures in safe, loving homes.

Three Peaks By Rail

The Three Peaks By Rail challenge consists of:

  • Mount Snowdon – 1,085m
  • Scafell Pike – 978m
  • Ben Nevis – 1,345m

To start the challenge, the team will board a specially designated train at Crewe station and travel to Snowdon for the first climb. The teams will travel between each peak by rail through beautiful countryside, giving them some much-needed rest. With some people comparing the Three Peaks Challenge to three consecutive half-marathons, they’re certainly going to need it!

“Supporting Railway Children is a chance for me to help people who need our support to stay safe.”
– John

“Protecting vulnerable young people from harm on the network is vital. Learning about Railway Children’s work has made me think about the ways technology can protect young people.”
– Geoff

“It’s a great charity and an opportunity to make a difference to young people’s lives. Sometimes it feels like the industry gets a bit of stick and negativity; this is a chance for the railway family to do something really positive, raise a lot of money and shout about it.”
– Adam

Help our team hit their goal

The Strolling Stock have set a fundraising target of £4,000, which will make a huge difference to Railway Children’s work. They’d be hugely grateful for any donations received, no matter the size, so if you’d like to contribute to the cause, please visit the Strolling Stock fundraising page.
