21st Century Technology has announced a 3-year contract extension to the existing framework agreement with Arriva UK Bus.
Under the terms of the framework agreement, 21st Century will continue to provide high-definition CCTV systems and nationwide engineering support to over 5,200 Arriva buses, along with technical design, new technology evaluation and project management services.
The safety critical CCTV and associated on-board IT systems provided by 21st Century assist Arriva in protecting passengers, drivers and members of the public whilst enhancing the passenger travel experience.
21st Century has provided on-board CCTV and related IT technologies to Arriva UK Bus since 2002 and has continued to maintain and support their systems throughout. High levels of performance and reliability are achieved through an on-line web service and call-centre, coordinating a network of engineering teams working nationwide in depots across the UK.
Russ Singleton, Chief Executive Officer of 21st Century, said: “We are delighted that Arriva UK Bus has chosen 21st Century to continue to supply and support their safety critical on-board CCTV and associated IT systems by extending our relationship through this framework contract renewal.
“We continue to invest in the development of innovative technologies, services and software as part of our drive to continuously improve systems reliability and performance, at the same time as reducing whole life-cycle costs for all our customers.”
The contract renewal announcement comes just as 21st Century is completing a major CCTV refurbishment project for Arriva London as part of a fleet upgrade.
The upgrade was completed according to very specific customer requirements and saw the replacement of the CCTV digital video recorder (DVR), installation of new cameras and the relocation of existing cameras. In addition, a new Wi-Fi router was installed and configured allowing the vehicle to communicate wirelessly with the depot CCTV server and continue Arriva’s support of Wi-Fi video transfer across all of its London depots.
21st Century’s combination of project management, field-based engineering and account management has ensured completion of the work on-time and on-budget. 21st Century has also provided a documented process and audit results upon completion of each and every installation, ensuring that all camera views, network configuration and recording parameters are set correctly and in accordance with ISO9001.
Mark Johnson, Director of Fleet Systems for 21st Century, commented: “Working on-site, at night in busy depots is a frequent demand by operators to limit any impact on the operational fleet.
“We are very proud of the fact that we are able to provide the very best installation and support through our National Installations team, which operates across every major city and region in the UK & Ireland.
“This project for Arriva is another example of 21st Century successfully completing a large-scale technical engineering task across a large number of vehicles in multiple locations.”
